The New Orleans Women & Children’s Shelter (NOWCS) has been providing care since 2006.
NOWCS is more than just a homeless shelter; it is truly a home. We help families transition from homelessness to stability and self-sufficiency. Our Shelter keeps mothers and children safe and secure, providing a home-like atmosphere, including assigned bedrooms, hot meals and unlimited time to get back on their feet.
We know this works! On average 88% transition from homelessness to independence. We offer wraparound services that keep families together by providing tools for success like case management, education, employment and children’s programs. Our Transition Assistance Program offers long-term support to permanently break the cycle of homelessness.
