French Quarter history goes high-tech

French Quarter

As visitors enter The Historic New Orleans Collection’s new welcome center at 520 Royal St., they’ll find something unique among its spaces: a seven-foot, three-dimensional touchscreen smart table, titled “French Quarter at Your Fingertips.” The table, developed with Ideum Inc., features an interactive map with information and historic images of French Quarter properties, based on the Collins C. Diboll Vieux Carré Digital Survey.

An associated app – “French Quarter Tours” – allows visitors to save locations while browsing the map. Visitors can put together their own tour of the historic district on their phones or take a pre-designed tour.
