Located in the tiny town of Akers off I-55, Middendorf’s has a long tradition of serving seafood the Louisiana way. Home of the original world-famous, thin-fried catfish, Middendorf’s has become a New Orleans staple on the shore of Lake Maurepas.
But how has Middendorf’s stayed relevant the last 85 years? According to owner Horst Pfeifer, “Like we always say – don’t change what’s not broken.” Many of Josie Middendorf’s original recipes from 1934 are still used in the restaurant today.
And people keep coming. During the busy season, Middendorf’s can see up to 8,000 people a week.
