The Ochsner Clinical Simulation and Patient Safety Center opened in 2017, utilizing human patient simulators, which mimic physiological functions of a real patient. Simulations include circumstances of trauma, labor and delivery, pediatric and premature neonatal patients. Such technology allows learners to acquire and practice clinical skills in a safe environment.
The Simulation Center trains attending physicians, fellows, residents, medical students, advance practice providers and others. The Simulation Center is designed to be a multi-disciplinary, inter-professional training center with simulation-based educational deliverables focusing on a teamwork system that promotes patient safety and quality through the advancement of teamwork.
