Camelback Employs NOLA Ingenuity in Its Mission (and Name)

New Orleans is said to be the origin of some of the first camelback-style homes following the Civil War. Families of the free black population resourcefully added a second story to the rear of these shotgun-style houses to create a structure reminiscent of a camel’s back.

Camelback Ventures is named for this innovation; we believe we could continue the tradition of using creativity and ingenuity to not only improve our communities, but also lift up our underrepresented peers.
