Catalysts for improving access to quality early education

Mayor Friday Ellis, City of Monroe, Louisiana

Monroe Mayor Friday Ellis and First Lady and Board of Elementary and Secondary Education District 5 Member Ashley Ellis have launched efforts in Monroe to increase the number of quality early care and education seats available to children from birth to age four.

“Far too many kids start school behind and stay behind,” said Mayor and First Lady Ellis. “This severely limits their potential for future life success. Providing low-cost or free seats to our youngest learners will open workforce options for families who cannot afford quality care for their children. We are so proud to launch this effort in Monroe!”
