“The 12 Yats of Christmas,” by Benny Grunch & The Bunch
What would Christmas in the Crescent City be without a visit from Benny Grunch & The Bunch? Long before the days of viral videos, the native New Orleanians teamed up with the late Frank Davis in 1990 to create a music video for Grunch’s original song, “The 12 Yats of Christmas.”
The video was such a hit it spawned two sequels – “Santa & His Reindeer Used to Live Right Here” and “Ain’t Dere No More.” Grunch and his band perform the songs around town, especially during the holidays, and the videos continue to air on Channel Four each Christmas. Watch them here.
