Mattilyn Karst Batson represents a government agency on the steering committee as director of early childhood systems in the Office of the Governor. If policy groups do not prioritize the voices of those impacted, then they’re not engaging with children and families correctly. That’s what makes the five goal areas so successful – they were built based on the input of parents and providers.
“Policy groups can think of as many strategies or objectives as we want, but if we’re not rooting ourselves in the people who are engaged with children every day, then we’re not doing right,” shares Karst Batson.
