Operation Angel: Help instead of handcuffs

by
In God We Trust on the back of a police car

Operation Angel is reshaping the war on drugs using a community-based approach. Now, those suffering from addiction (any addiction) can walk into any law enforcement agency in St. Tammany Parish and seek help. Within minutes, they will be in the back seat of a police car on their way to a treatment facility to start their road to recovery.

Law enforcement in St. Tammany no longer treats drug addiction as a crime, but as a disease. Since the beginning of the program in 2016, over 200 people have sought help. Forty percent of participants remain clean and sober today.
