Remembering Sandra Day O’Connor

by The 100 Companies

Sandra Day O’Connor, the trailblazing U.S. Supreme Court justice, passed away last Friday, Dec. 1, at the age of 93.

O’Connor – born in El Paso, Texas – was nominated for the U.S. Supreme Court and in 1981, she became the first woman to ever serve as a U.S. Supreme Court justice. Before that, she had been assistant attorney general in the Arizona Senate as well as a judge of the Maricopa County Superior Court. In 2009, President Barack Obama awarded O’Connor the Presidential Medal of Freedom.

O’Connor represented possibilities where there were none previously and inspired generations of women.
