The last time this many women ran for office was 1992, the “Year of the Woman.” In 2018, record numbers of women are campaigning from both parties – and winning. What took us so long?
At Dillard University this August, Sen. Elizabeth Warren said simply: “Nobody thinks they can win.” In a 2013 study, college-age men were 50% more likely to run for office, even though the numbers show women can win. Warren didn’t know the first thing about running for office before her first campaign.
As for determining the right time? “Sometimes the fight comes to you,” said Warren.
