In New Orleans, children experience trauma at rates that far surpass youth in the rest of the country. Four in 10 children have seen someone shot, stabbed or beaten; 54% know someone who’s been murdered. Yet mental health is one of the least funded services available to children in our community.
Children’s Bureau of New Orleans provides grief and trauma intervention developed specifically for New Orleans youth. Decades of data shows participants in these programs experience a reduction in stress and depression.
The need for mental health services is substantial in NOLA. You can help. Give at www.childrensbureaunola.org.
