The New Orleans Women and Children’s Shelter is proud to be a part of our community safety net, promoting equity through immediate wraparound and long-term support for homeless families.
Homelessness is a poverty issue, but poverty disproportionately affects people of color. Thirty-two percent of Black and 19% of Asian households in New Orleans live in poverty compared to 10% of White households.
Over half of New Orleans households rent and now, with 25% of people unemployed and eviction bans lifted, many families are at risk. Together, we can empower families on the long road to stability.
