Lobbying & advocacy after tragedy

by

The mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School has revived the country’s contentious gun control debate, this time activated by students in the Parkland, Florida school.

Sadly, we as a country have become almost desensitized to what has developed into nearly regular tragedies, but the faces of the 17 victims quickly reignited the discussion.

In the aftermath of the shootings, some businesses responded to consumer backlash by severing ties with the National Rifle Association, which opposes the ban on semiautomatic weapons. The discussion continues with advocacy and lobbying groups, often philosophically at odds, trying to end the heartrending plague.
