Jazz Fest posters became collectors’ items during the festival’s 50-year history. The 1970 posters featured art by Noel Rockmore and Bruce Brice.
The first “official” poster in the current series was created in 1975 by Bud Brimberg and ProCreations Publishing Company. Designed by Sharon Dinkins and Thorn Grafton and featuring a second line grand marshal, it sold for $3.95. Artists since then have included Peter Max, George Rodrigue, James Michalopoulos, George Dureau and Terrance Osborne.
This year’s, by Scott Guion, is titled “Family Portrait: Jazz Fest at 50” and features a collage of New Orleans music greats.
