You don’t need an “A” in public speaking to execute a media interview. Check out these tips:
• Research – Take time to research the reporter. Knowing the format in which they report gives insight into the type of questions they may ask.
• Know your facts – Know the key facts surrounding the topic you are being interviewed on. Sticking to these will help you remain on topic.
• Hot mic – Anything you say to the media (even before mic’d) is on the record.
• Tie it up – At the conclusion of the interview, restate your main points. Repeating these gives the reporter additional soundbites.
