Those of us who rode in the “way backs” of station wagons on long family road trips remember the red-and-yellow signs, kitschy merchandise and pecan rolls of Stuckey’s, the first roadside convenience stands founded by W.S. Stuckey in 1937.
He sold the company, which declined and had just 12 stores left in 2019 when his granddaughter Stephanie Stuckey bought the company with dreams to rebuild the brand that is her family’s legacy.
It’s been a tough road filled with potholes, roadblock and detours. Stephanie tells the story in her entertaining and inspirational new book, “UnStuck, Rebirth of an American Icon.”
