Hurricane Laura conjures memories

Aug. 29 marked the 15th  anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, and I remember the weeks after the storm being a PR professional’s “moment.”

Storytelling became paramount, as much of the country believed New Orleans was underwater months later and the city simply too vulnerable to salvage.  To right the misperceptions, the Fleur de Lis Ambassadors was born to tell the real story of New Orleans.

Led by former Tulane President Scott Cowen and City Councilman Arnie Fielkow, a cadre of influencers traveled nationwide to explain why New Orleans matters. The Fleur de Lis Ambassadors remains today one of my proudest “moments.”
