PARK(ing) Day NOLA, presented by the Downtown Development District and the City of New Orleans, took place on Friday, Oct. 19. New Orleanians spent the day transforming metered parking spaces into temporary public parklets all over the city.
This annual, global event encourages citizens to collaborate with artists and activists to create new forms of temporary public space in an urban context. From fire hydrant gardens to sonic sanctuaries, the project allowed people to temporarily escape the hustle and bustle and take advantage of creative outlets.
