empowering women

Chalmette Refining women engineers recently traveled to California for the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) annual meeting. The conference, involving 16,600 women (and men) from 33 countries, was jampacked with empowering information relevant to women, especially engineers, in the workforce.

Taking these great ideas home, the Chalmette SWE members decided to pay it forward at STEM Saturdays, teaching local children STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) principles through hands-on experiments. Future plans are now set to network with the Tulane University SWE chapter.

The group is also gearing up for the 2020 SWE National Conference in New Orleans this November.
