On September 8, Congress passed an extension of the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) through December 8.
While we were hopeful to complete a long-term reauthorization of the program before September 30, this clean reauthorization through December 8 buys more time for us to pass true reforms that enhance mitigation, improve mapping, preserve affordability and increase program participation.
GNO, Inc. will continue to advocate for these priorities. Specifically, we are urging the Senate Banking Committee to take up flood insurance reauthorization as soon as possible to ensure predictability and stability for those recovering from both Hurricanes Harvey and Irma.
